Among the four teams, Terengganu and Police are favourites to go all the way through. A simple victory in the last game is adequate to see both make it to the quarter-finals.
Terengganu and Police will both be playing away in east Malaysia against Sarawak and Sabah respectively. Although the Borneo sides are already out of the reckoning, they can be tough nuts to crack at home and could still derail their opponents’ hopes of winning three points.
Despite having an outside possibility, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan have the odds heavily stacked against them.
Not only do they play each other in Paroi in the final group match, Group A’s third placed Kelantan and Negri in fourth place, need favours from others to go through.
A draw in Paroi would see both Kelantan and Negri’s campaigns come to an end. If the match ends with an outright winner, then the winning team also need to hope for either Police or Terengganu to falter.
