Hard to bite!

Argentine striker Walter Silva’s 35th minute headed goal for Johor FC was not enough to stop the Red Giants from marching into the final with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Johor FC is in the correct path during the first half. Attacking display by Johor FC made Selangor defense to work hard and their goalkeeper in alert.

Johor FC first goal should come from their Argentine striker, Walter Silva’s. His long-range attempts at Suffian Rahman’s goal create anxious moment for the visitors when his shot spilled by the Selangor goalkeeper.

Johor FC’s twin strike force of Silva and Eddy Helmi Manan carved open the Selangor backline in the 20th minute, but the former’s half volley missed the mark.

The home side got it right through their Argentine combination fifteen minutes later.
Midfielder Gustavo Fuentes’ downward header beat Suffian, and a lurking Silva was at hand to nod the ball into an unguarded net.

Selangor more alert after Johor FC get their first goal. They put more energetic approach to avoid their opponent on getting the equalizing goal. In few occasion, Selangor manage to threat Johor FC goal, but Safee Sali not on his best day.

There was some uptight defending at both ends in the closing minutes, but the 32-time Malaysia Cup champions Selangor held on to enter the final.

Selangor will meet up either Terengganu or Kedah, who play their semi-final second leg tie tonight, in Saturday’s final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
