Football Association of Selangor (FAS) Secretary Hamidin Amin has confirmed that Dollah Salleh contract as Selangor head coach will not be renew for next 2009 season. He added that the new Selangor head coach will be announce as early as next week.
This has confirmed the rumours that Selangor will be getting new head coach for next season. Dollah Salleh has been notified on this decision and he accepted that his coaching career with Selangor has ended after four seasons. Dollah who is 45 this year start had wonderful first season in 2005 with Selangor after he managed to won three major tournaments which are Perdana League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup.
But the season onwards, Dollah Salleh failed to repeat his success where he ended his last three years stint without any cup. Following that, FAS has decided that Selangor need new head coach for next season to ensure their supporters back to stadium to watch their team play since the number of supporters decreasing every year.
Even Selangor qualified to Malaysia Cup 2008 final, only 15,000 supporters came to Bukit Jalil compare to Kedah supporter who have 40,000 supporters on that day.
The new season for 2009 also will be the testing ground for first Selangor full time manager, Zakaria Ab. Rahim after taking over for the remaining three months for 2008 season.
Rumours spread that FAS has short listed the new Selangor head coach. Among the big name in the shortlist are Kuala Muda Naza coach, K. Devan and ex-foreigner for Selangor, Mehmet Durakovic. For the record, K. Devan is the man who guides Kuala Muda Naza to win 2008 Perdana League and being promoted to Super League for 2009 season.
