Drama between Selangor and Kuala Muda Naza continue. Even Kuala Muda Naza claimed that K. Devan still have valid contract with them, Selangor without hesitant unveiled K. Devan as their coach for 2009 Malaysia Super League (MSL) season.

"We never told him he could go. His contract with us is till June 2009 and he has not discussed anything with us.

"He can give reasons but at the end of the day he has to honour his contract.

"Devan is a professional coach and we expect him to do that,"
said KM Naza team manager, Ami Nuddin Ma Ati.

"We replied to all his letters and told him that we don't agree to him leaving. We have to meet to discuss the situation."

In Selangor camp,

“We receive Devan in good faith. He is a qualified coach and hard-working. He does not compromise and has proven to be a successful coach.

"I hope that with the combination of young and senior players, we will be able to achieve some glory next season," said Mokhtar after the coach had convinced the FAS that he would settle the matter with Kuala Muda.

“The season is over and as far as the FAS are concerned, we want something new and Devan fits our bill as seen by his good track record. We have nothing to do with his previous club and want to get down with our jobs.”

Devan said that he was looking forward to new challenges with Selangor.

“If I do not have faith in leading them to winning trophies, I would not have joined Selangor,”
Devan said.

On the dispute with Kuala Muda, Devan said that he was optimistic that he would be able to resolve the issue amicably with the club.

“I had no choice but to tender in my resignation last month failing to get the club to resolve the matter by mutual agreement,” he said.

“They are forcing me to stay with a premature contract and I had informed them that I want to be closer with my family in Seremban. I have to drive about five hours from Seremban to Gurun (Kula Muda’s training base) in Kedah and it is not easy.

“I had delivered my part of the bargain to meet the target set by the club management to take them up to the Super League as Premier League champions.

“I would have stayed on if they had switched their training base to Bangi, which they verbally agreed to do but changed their plan.”

Meanwhile, Selangor have retained 14 players from last season’s squad and have recruited six players, including former Negri Sembilan defender Khairul Anuar Baharum, Sanjos Sundawat and Mohd Fazli Baharuddin from Police.
