When FAM decided to ban foreign players for Malaysia League 2009, most of the Kedah fans worried on the after effect to their team. While others predicting that Malaysia League 2009 will be bored and will reduce numbers of people going to stadium. And the other end says our local players will not progress.

There are three things that FAM needs to work on which are:

  • Improve our local players in the league.
  • To have a good plan in grass root development
  • Attract more supporters to stadium.

  • The new ruling introduced after Malaysia League hit by lack of natural scorer and lot of Football Association (FA) unable to manages their revenue that cause them unable to pay their own players salary. Bola Today believed that there is other way to tackle this problem. Total ban on Malaysia League really hit teams that properly keep their spending like Kedah, My Team and Selangor.

What FAM should do is to come with a rule that FA that wants to hire foreigner should declare their financial spending. Let say if a team have MYR 1 million budget for one season, they should know who much that they would spend on wages and transfer budget. If they spending MYR 300 000 on foreigner for wages, that’s mean their foreigner wages should below MYR 25 000 per month. Give them a contract based on MYR currency so their spending will not hit by currency exchange.

FAM should do more work on teaching FA how to keep their spending on how to grow their revenue. What we can see today is each FA just knows on spending and praying that the gate collection will cover their spending. And when their gate collection is low, they will delay their player’s wages. And when players not getting pay, they will start ‘selling’ their game and bookie will be happy to bribe our player because our players force to do so.

2009, lets pray that our Malaysia League will be better and more entertaining and our national team better than 2008 season. Congratulations to Azraai Khor on his appointment as Malaysia Technical Committee.

I hail the spirit of Kedah head coach, his assistant and his players on the new ruling for 2009 season. They will miss Marlon Alex James, Nelson San Martin and Cornelius Bernard Hugging but optimistic on progressing in 2009. Check out their comment for 2009 season below from some of local fans, Azraai Khor Abdullah, Kyril Muhaimeen, Fadly Baharom, Shafizan Hashim and Radhi Mat Din.
