Since 1980, 10 foreign coaches employed by FAM in order to revive national team glory in 1970 era. Big signing name like Bertalan Bisckei, Alan Harris, Claude Le Roy and Ken Worden failed to fulfill FAM ambitious mission. Meanwhile six local coaches given opportunity for the national team hot seat. All share the same end result. FAILED!
Is it the coach not good enough? Or our player not up to standard? Or should our people stop playing football since we are not meant to a football crazy country.
There is no clear hint on B. Sathianathan replacement. FAM announces they are looking on local coaches and the shortlist is ready. Among the current notable local coaches are:
- Azraai Khor
- Norizan Bakar
- Abdul Rahman Ibrahim
- Irfan Bakti
- M Karathu
- Dollah Salleh
- K Devan
- Zainal Abidin Hassan
- Mat Zan Mat Aris
- Yunos Alif
- Nasir Yusof
- Wan Jamak Wan Hassan
- Azuan Zin
- Redhuan Abdullah
- K. Rajagopal
If FAM hire a local coaches, who do you think fit the bill? I only can think one local coach that should take the post. He is Lim Teong Kim. He proved he is good enough to be appointed as Bayern Munich junior team coach. He knows in and out Bayern Munich youth development structure that proven success. And this is what we really need. He is among the top football player in local league during his tenure. He is tough. He is brave with high determination.
But does FAM know Lim Teong Kim?
