Finally Kedah mark their first win in AFC Cup 2009 competition winning against Eastern Athletic from Hong Kong 2-0 at Darul Aman Stadium last night. Now, Kedah kept alive their hopes to reach quarter final after lifting Kedah off the bottom of the table to second place on better goal difference than Eastern Athletic and Hanoi.
Ex Penang striker, Farizal Rozali score Kedah first goal in the 27th minute when he headed in corner kick taken by Badrul Bakhtiar. Azrul Ahmad seal the winning gial in the 77th minute after excellent one two display with Farizal Rozali.
Kedah will play against Eastern Athletic again in their next match at the Mongkok Stadium on April 21.
Meanwhile, leaders Chonburi stirred nearer to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 away victory over Hanoi ACB at the Hang Day Stadium last night. The Thai club has the maximum nine points from three matches.
Another Malaysia representatives, Johor FC, lost 0-2 against South China FC of Hong Kong in a Group F match at the Mongkok Stadium. The scorers for the Hong Kong side were Man Pei Tak (14th) and M. Carios (55th).
