After more than two months waiting, finally today Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will announce Malaysia national coach today. At first three candidates suggest by local media suitable to take national coach post which are Malaysia under 20 coach, K. Rajagopal, Kedah coach, Azraai Khor and Selangor coach, K. Devan.
But with recent appointment for K. Rajagopal to guide Malaysia U23 squad for SEA Games this year in Laos, we can consider K. Rajagopal will focus solely with U23 and U20 players.
Last week local media leak out news it was actually Dollah Salleh that going to be appoint as Malaysia football coach. I have no problem with Dollah Salleh, but I don’t believe Dollah Salleh have the quality to build national squad. Even he has great achievement in guiding MPPJ to become the first club to win Malaysia Cup and great three cups in his first year with Selangor.
I see Dollah Salleh as a person that use soft approach in building his squad which I think that would not work if we would like to revamp our national squad. Malaysia needs someone who is capable to make his own squad rather than getting direction and set of players from FAM to carry national flag.
I prefer Wan Jamak Wan Hassan if FAM would like to consider experience local who is proven in international stage rather than gambling national football fortune. Let wait on the announcement and pray may the best coach get the post.
