What made Selangor is so successful this season? If you think is purely luck for ‘Red Giant’ side, I hope you think over it again.

First of all I would congratulate Selangor FA who made correct decision to get rid from Dollah Salleh and hired K. Devan for 2009 season. If Azraai Khor is behind Kedah success mastermind by three years Kedah football plan from late Dato Ahmad Basri in 2005 for Kedah double treble success, I would say K. Devan is the man who made Selangor won three cups in 2009. And his signing repays the faith show by him.

1. Khairul Anuar Baharom

Evan Selangor terminated Safiq Rahim and Shukor Adan as the midfield maestro and lethal finisher Indra Putra and Akmal Rizal before the 2009 season started. K. Devan take the challenge and I suggest, signing Khairul Anuar Baharum is the best signing made by K. Devan. Selangor is very fragile at the back in 2008. With Khairul Anuar Baharum experience we could see how the backline turn up solid between him and Nasriq Baharom.

2. Amri Yahyah

K. Devan appointed Amri Yahyah as Selangor captain and play him behind the striker is the key of Selangor success this season. His vision to create and score goal improve tremendously under K. Devan.

3. Rudie Ramli

Returning to Selangor from Perlis in 2009, he manages to fill the void left by Indra Putra and Akmal Rizal. His partnership with Safee Saali is not the best in the country but decent enough to threat the opponent.

4. Nasril Nourdin and Hamsani Ahmad

K. Devan get rid from inconsistent Megat Amir Faisal and get the top two goalkeepers from Perak. Excellent bit of business and thank to Perak FA financial problem.

5. C. Premnath

Faith shown into young player help C. Premnath to establish himself among Selangor first eleven. He still has room to improve but his introduction by K. Devan this season give Selangor pace on the wing and ability penetrate the ball into the box.

that is a great idea! how about top 10 goals of the season too?

another reason why Selangor did well is because the no foreigner policy, which saw Kedah, Perlis suffering their forms..

    mr dukeskywalker,
don't you think this is a weak argument? No foreigner policy affected Selangor too. If we are talking about level-playing field, all the teams this season are using locals, and Selangor managed to field the best local team who managed to get the most points. Even with this policy, Perlis managed to challenge for the title until the last few games, with financial problems too. If foreigners are allowed, with the way the new coaching lineup did a good job with their local signings, don't you think Selangor will sign up good foreigners too?

    Mr John,
I think you missed out faselangor.my as official state FA side at your sidebar links.
