THE Perak FA (PFA), for the time being at least, while have to find its own solutions for the financial mess it is in.
The state government, said menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin yesterday, will only make a decision on PFA's plea for help after studying the issue.
"I have directed state chairman for youth and sports Seah Leong Peng to study the PFA issue and to make his recommendation. Until then, we are unable to help the PFA financially," said Nizar yesterday.
Under the previous state government, PFA received an annual grant of RM2.8 million and it has appealed to Nizar to continue supporting football.
There has even been talk of Nizar assuming the post of president but the he remains non-committal.
"The three-year term for the present office bearers expires at the end of August. The AGM is planned for some time next month and we will see what happens."
In the meantime, PFA's debts are piling up as players await their salaries while creditors are also chasing for payments.
Income tax and EPF contributions are also in arrears while RM560,000 is owed to the Ipoh City Council for use of the Perak Stadium.
PFA is contemplating selling a plot of land, valued at RM4 million, to cover its debts.
