Selangor are not about to take their foot off the throttle, yet.

The Red Giants, who have qualified for the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals from Group A, will not grant Terengganu any favours.

They will field their best men in their penultimate group fixture at the Shah Alam Stadium tonight.

Coach Dollah Salleh said that he would have the services of all four national players, who have been excused from reporting for centralised training on Wednesday to prepare for a friendly international against India in Hyderabad on July 22.

“We have made it to the quarter-finals but I am not prepared to take the remaining fixtures lightly,” said Dollah, who is hoping the team maintain their strong showing, especially in the second round after having beaten Sarawak (3-2), Negri Sembilan (2-1) and Kelantan (4-1).

Out: Selangor defender P. Gunalan with miss the match against Terengganu due to injury.

The national players in the Selangor side are Mohd Safee Sali, Indra Putra Mahayuddin, Mohd Shukor Adan and Mohd Amirulhadi.

They will join the national team in training tomorrow.

“Defender P. Gunalan is down with injury and it will be tough to play a strong side like Terengganu without key players,” said Dollah.

Selangor lead the pack on 19 points.

Terengganu have 16 points and full points for them tonight will put Kelantan (14 points) and Negri (13) out of contention for a place in the quarter-finals.

The top two teams and the two best third-placed teams in the three-group preliminaries advance to the quarter-finals.

In Group C, leaders UPB-MyTeam have 18 points will advance even if they lose their remaining three matches.

UPB-MyTeam, who play against Perak in Ipoh, are certain of a place to the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-placed teams.

Perak have 15 points – one point behind Perlis while Johor PG and Pahang are on 10 points each.

In Group B, Police have 15 points and lead Kedah on superior goal difference while Johor FC, on 14 points with a game in hand, are also in contention to get into the quarter-finals.
