Last year Merdeka Cup champion, Malaysia, reserved a spot in Merdeka Cup final for the subsequent successive year after thumping last year's finalist, Myanmar 4-0, in their semifinal match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight. Malaysia will meet Vietnam at the same venue on Saturday.

The national side with the mixture of young and senior players, conquered the match right since the starting whistle but had to remain till the 26th minute to unlock stubborn Myanmar in the course of Indraputra Mahayuddin. The match ended 1-0 at half time.

In second half, Mohd Safee Sali solo run add the second goal in the 62nd minute.
Trail by two goals, Myanmar, champion of the Cup in 2006, twice over up their attack and came close to gain in the 67th minute but Myo Min Tun's well struck shot from inside the penalty box was well saved by goalkeeper Mohd Helmi Eliza Elias.

Indraputra fired up his second and Malaysia's third from the penalty spot in the 75th minute after Safee was take down inside the box by Han Win Aung.

Mohd Amirulhadi Zainal score in the 82nd minute to give Malaysia a valid fourth goal and set exciting clash against Vietnam.

With the triumph today, Malaysia upholds their 100 per cent winning record in the competition and has scored 18 goals without giving way any.
