Vietnam beat Sierra Leone 3-2 on penalties in a Merdeka Tournament semifinal after normal and extra-time added ended with a 2-2 draw at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Sierra Leone leads first through Mohamed Kabia in 39th minutes. First half ended with 1-0 score with Sierra Leone upfront. Dwight Foray added in 68th minutes for Sierra Leone second goals.

However, the score did not last long where Vietnam reduce the deficit in 72nd minutes from Trinh Quang Vinh and Nguyen Duc Thien level the scores in 81st minutes.
