Vietnam 3 - Myanmar 1

Myanmar are back with a vengeance to make up for their failure in the final of the Merdeka Tournament last year. The fleet-footed Myanmar side, who were beaten 1-3 by Malaysia, have most of their best men to carry the challenge this time. However their mission to reach final for three consecutive times is on hold when they lost to Vietnam 3-1 in the opening group B match

Vietnam lead by Marcos Falopa from Brazil keep their star in charge again as their influential trio led by skipper Soe Myat Min, striker Yan Paing and goalkeeper Aung Aung Oo, who have all been in their national team for more than a decade now.

Vietnam netted the first goal merit to playmaker Phan Thanh Binh in 3rd minute before Myanmar equalized in the course of Zaw Htet Aung free kick in the 44th minute.

from then on it was Vietnam all the way with Hoang Dinh Tung picking up their second goal in 47th minute and Nguyen Duc Thien the third in the 74th minute.
