Ex- Perak coach Steve Darby appointed as Thailand's assistant coach on Monday.
Darby's boss will be former Sunderland team manager Peter Reid, who was signed as Thailand chief coach in August.
"This is a great opportunity for me to learn from one of English football's best known managers. It also gives me the chance to be part of Asean football's biggest team," said Darby.
Darby, who fly off from Malaysia on Oct 8, is still to be paid three months salary and signing on fees amounting to RM120,000 by the Perak FA.
PFA is likely to settle by the end of November.
Darby's first mission will be the Asean Cup in December. Thailand and Malaysia are in the same group.
