FIFA Technical Director, Jean-Michel Benezet

If everyone remembered last year, FAM called Technical expertise from FIFA Jean-Michel Benezet. Jean Michel Benezet surprised with Malaysia Super League format that having a 13 team competing which is odd. To make thing worst, he never see any league in this world that playing with odd number format.

FAM agree to change their format to 14 team in 2009, but due to their own error for promoting Kelantan ‘too early’ after Police express they having insufficient fund to compete in Malaysia Super League 2009 and they may be pulling off from the competition.

Malaysia Super League will see the odd number again which are 15 teams in Malaysia Super League 2009. Police appealed to compete in the league few days ago, and FAM have decided to have win-win situation which is having Kelantan and Police in Malaysia Super League 2009. FAM also decided to fine Police RM10,000.

However, FAM deputy president Datuk Redzuan Tan Sri Sheikh Ahmad was quick to announce that FAM would revert to an even number of teams in 2010 before Malaysian criticizes their decision. This will see the number of teams in the Super League rising from 14 to 15 next seasons.

FAM deputy president Datuk Redzuan Tan Sri Sheikh Ahmad said the Council fully agreed to accept Police back in the fold and allow Kelantan to remain in the Super League. Police were reinstated due to their strong affiliation with the FAM.

“The Council has decided that in future any withdrawals, especially by state teams and affiliates, will be brought to the exco. It is not an issue with FAM. Historically, Police have been with us all the while and it is our ambition that the football family stays intact.”

its just pure stupidity. 15 teams in a league? why cant they just sent Kelantan back to Premier league? What is wrong with that? Kelantan don't even deserve to be in the Super league in the first place! Such a simple solution. Politicians should stay away from football!
