Departure of Kedah foreigner has left the Kedah struggling at AFC Cup quarter after suffering 5-0 mauling by Muharraq FC in first leg tie. Kedah head coach, Azraai Khor Abdullah said second leg at Darul Aman will be a matter of salvaging some pride for Malaysia

Right from the beginning it was obvious that Muharraq, Bahrain League champion is a better side creating several chances which they couldn’t put away. Both side plays rough causing up to four players to be yellow carded in the space of 20 minutes. Once Muharraq settled down, the visitor start to attack and their act rewarded when Muharraq Brazilian, Rico get the openor in 29 minutes. Minutes later, Ali Muhammad Musafir was fouled by Kedah goalkeeper Muhd Helmi Eliza in the box resulting penalty. Keeper retaliated with the referee which resulted yellow card for him. Rico again step up and coolly convert his and Muharraq second goals.

On second half Kedah had a golden opportunity to score their first goal but Muhd Fadly Baharom narrowly missed the target after his effort hit the post and goes wide. But in 69 minutes, Kedah most promising player Muhd Fadly Baharom made up his blunder scored Kedah first goal.

Final result the match ended with 7-1 aggregates which result Muharraq to qualify to AFC Cup semi final.
